The Nigeria Petroleum Development Company (NPDC)

[ Okpoho-Okono 12” & 6” Subsea Flexible pipelines EPCIC Project ]

Services: Engineering, Procurement, Construction, & Installation Services.

Location: OML 119, Okpoho-Okono Field, Offshore Nigeria.

Project Description: The Okono and Okpoho fields, situated offshore Nigeria within the OML119 block, approximately 55 km away from Shell’s Bonny Oil Terminal, operate in water depths ranging from 65 to 100 m. Oil and gas production from these fields is facilitated by the Mystras FPSO. Following the conclusion of FEED studies, NPDC initiated a project to replace the existing rigid 16” Multiphase crude line and 8″ Gas lift pipelines. Melcurt Limited secured the EPCIC contract for the installation of new flexible 12” and 6” pipelines.

Shell Production Development Company (SPDC)

[16” Nun River Pipeline Installation Project ]

Services: Engineering, Procurement, Construction, & Installation Services.

Location: Bayelsa, Nigeria.

Project Description: SPDC reported a leak on the Nun River Trunk line at the Ekoli section and engaged MELCURT NIGERIA for a sectional replacement, including salvaging the old portion of the pipeline.

Our Actions: The primary challenge arose from the swift current of the river at the Upstream section of the LBV station, causing damage to the existing pipe section and posing a threat to the proposed pipeline installation. MELCURT successfully salvaged the old pipeline section, dredged the river to meet the necessary installation profiles, and installed the 16’’ pipeline through the river crossing. To ensure stability against the river current, Melcurt Nigeria installed approximately 100 concrete mattresses as specified by the client.

Shell Production Development Company (SPDC)

[ 16 Inch X 26km Forcardos North Bank – Odidi Agg Pipeline ]

Services: Engineering, Procurement, Construction, & Installation Services.

Location: Odidi, Nigeria.

Project Description: The 16-inch x 26 km Forcados North-Bank to Odidi AGG Pipeline, constructed in 2004 to evacuate gas from FYIP – EGGS, underwent pre-commissioning in February 2018. A caliper run in April 2018 revealed a dent approximately 1.5 km from the Odidi CPF Platform and a confirmed leak point on the nearest bend.

Our Actions: The project’s scope involved a permanent repair using a cofferdam at two points on the 16” x 26 km North Bank Forcados Odidi AGG Pipeline. Overcoming challenges such as tidal changes, the presence of underground facilities, disused manifolds within the site layout, and unfriendly weather conditions, the project was successfully completed in record time. This allowed the client to commence gas transportation through the pipeline.

Warri Refining And Petrochemical Company Limited (WRPC)

[ Installation Of 24”x 480m Pms Pipeline (Pump House “c” To Tanks 301-tk-43/44) ]

Services: Engineering, Procurement, Construction, & Installation Services.

Location: Warri, Nigeria.

Project Description: The WRPC 24” PMS pipeline faced multiple leakages, posing a significant risk of PMS spills and pollution in the pipeline area between the pump house ‘c’ and tank 43/44. To address this, WRPC contracted MELCURT LIMITED to perform a pipeline replacement/installation to restore it to industry standards.

Our Actions: The scope of work involved a permanent repair through replacement/installation at the identified leak areas. Despite consistent gas emissions during salvaging, our team, in collaboration with the WRPC firefighting unit, ensured quick response capabilities in case of a fire outbreak. Challenges arose from clustered sections of the pipeline due to multiple pipelines passing through the same right of way, making the work area challenging. However, our success stories included a well-coordinated management approach, no fatalities from mobilization to completion, and the development of host community workers. Importantly, the project was executed without environmental pollution.

The replacement/installation project was successfully completed, and the pipeline has been restored to the required industry standard.
